National Volunteer Week is next week (April 21-27), and it's a great opportunity to build connections and show appreciation for the community that your small business calls home. What better way to do so than through video!? Keep reading for our top tips on how your small business can use video for National Volunteer Week.

1) Create Volunteer Stories
Video allows creators to tell dynamic, engaging stories in ways that other media simply cannot. This factor opens up a myriad of opportunities for communication and connection between your small business and the community. During National Volunteer Week, take time to capture the stories of your volunteers and the connections they share. When making your video, be sure to highlight any volunteers who have especially supported your cause and/or demonstrate your brand's values. Not only does a volunteer story video strengthen ties with existing community members, it also serves to show new people what you're all about.
2) Capture Fundraising Events
We’ve worked with a variety of small businesses to highlight their volunteer efforts. One year, we worked with a local credit union to capture their annual charity golf tournament in a highlight video. The video was then incorporated into the company's digital marketing to boost engagement with potential clients and donors alike. We’ve also had the pleasure of working with WBEC East to capture their Desserts and More Fundraiser. With a highlight video of the event, they are able to promote the fundraiser and reach potential volunteers and donors for the following year.
3) Create Volunteer Training Videos
In last week's blog post, we talked about why training videos are crucial. Considering the wide array of learning styles, video is the most comprehensive and accessible way to train and model standard procedures. One of the top ways to use video for National Volunteer Week is to create this type of informative corporate content for volunteer onboarding. This is particularly helpful for non-profits who may have an influx of temporary volunteers for specific events or days. A volunteer training video is the perfect way to teach new and temporary volunteers about your organization and how their work helps your cause--just be sure the footage you share accurately represents the work that needs to be completed.
