If you've been searching for cameras that take HD photography and video, look no further. Whether you’re a hobbyist looking for mixed media or a beginner just dipping your feet into the world of video and photo, sometimes a camera that does both is just what you need. When looking for a photo camera, be sure to note megapixel, shutter speed, and full frame. For video cameras, you need to look out for bit rate, frame rates, and video resolution. Keep reading for our list of the top three cameras for both video and photos.
1) Canon 5D Mark IV
Often referred to simply as "The Mark 4," this camera has become the go-to in the photography world. Beyond photos, this full-frame 30 megapixel camera shoots video in 4K up to 30fps. You can even buy a version of it with Clog installed, if you're looking to get really fancy with your video. While Canon has recently replaced it with the mirrorless R5, we still recommend the Mark 4 (which has thusly been marked down to a very affordable value!). We especially love the Mark 4 for its sensor quality--30.4-megapixel full frame--coupled with its color depth and dynamic range. Best of all, it's incredibly reliable. Not only does the battery life hold really well, the Mark 4 is also one of the most durable cameras we've come across. Basically, we couldn't recommend it enough!
2) Sony a7 IV
We've got to be perfectly honest... while we at AWV are very much a Canon family, we can't deny that Sony has a heck of a lot to offer. The A7 is one of Sony's most popular models, and we absolutely had to include it on this list. It's a mirrorless camera, meaning it's lightweight and has a fast shutter speed. Additionally, the A7 is capable of direct live-streaming, making this camera ideal for online content creators. Like the Mark IV, the A7 has impressive sensor quality (33 megapixel full-frame) and a high-speed processor. Sony users especially love the autofocus (with a -4 to +20 EV sensitivity range) and eye tracking features, which set it apart from other similar cameras.
3) Panasonic Lumix G100D
Looking to take the leap from creating content on your phone to using a professional camera? The Lumix G100D is just the gear you need. Specifically made for vloggers, it's ideal for content creators looking to up their game from their smartphone's camera. Unlike the cameras above, the Lumix G100D comes with an attached lens. This makes it cheaper and easier to handle for beginners and hobbyists. While not as impressive as those of the cameras above, the Lumix G100D still has a high-quality 20 megapixel sensor. Photos are cropped to 4:3 at RAW 20mp, or you can adjust the frame to 16:9 up to 15mp. Additionally, this camera is capable of recording 4k up to 30fps. It also includes features such as a subject tracker and selfie mode, making it perfect for beginner bloggers.
