The 3 Must Haves for Video Marketing Scripts

How to Write a Compelling Marketing Script

The key to effective video marketing (and quality videos in general) is the script. Successful corporate video production needs to be carefully planned with intentionality; skipping out on this sacrifices credibility and ultimately damages your brand. While a video script may seem overly-formal or unnecessary for digital marketing content, a solid outline can make or break your video and conversion rate. Keep reading for the inside scoop on the three must-haves for video marketing scripts.

How to Write a Compelling Marketing Script

1) Identify the Problem

If you've read any of our blog posts about digital marketing, you already know that we swear by starting corporate videos with a hook. You have mere seconds to capture the attention of your viewers, and, without a hook, they're likely to lose interest that quickly. The right hook for a video marketing script engages viewers within those few seconds without giving away the meat of your content. One of the most effective hooks for corporate video production is identifying the problem, and that's where we recommend you start. Ask questions ("Has X, Y, Z ever happened to you?"; "What do you look for in a good X, Y, Z?") or lead with a "fun fact" or statistics regarding the need(s) that your small business can address. Identify your target audience's pain point plainly and succinctly, tailoring your marketing script specifically to that audience. When doing so, it's crucial that you stay hyper-focused on one topic. That way, the video's intention is clear and guaranteed to stay within your audience's niche.

2) Position Yourself as the Solution

After catching the eye of viewers with your problem hook, reel them in with the solution: You! Your video script should dive right into the reasons your small business is the best option for navigating the issue. When doing so, meet viewers where they're at by being sympathetic and positive with your expertise, as opposed to shaming viewers for having not found a solution sooner. Further, be careful not to use your video to list all the services that your brand offers. While it can be tempting to pack in as many SEO terms and buzzwords as possible, doing so causes the content to dissolve its hyper-focus, become disorganized, and lose viewers. Instead, use the video to underscore what makes your small business an authority specifically on addressing the identified problem. We recommend picking three key factors that make your small business the ideal choice for your target audience, and be sure not to deviate from the single topic introduced in your hook.

3) Lead Your Audience with a Call to Action

Now that viewers know that you are the answer to their problems, share the first step to get started. Don't make your audience guess how to find your services or what to do next--tell them! It's crucial that small businesses are easy to find and contact, so be sure to prioritize visibility and accessibility to do so. In your marketing video's call to action, however, be sure only to list the BEST next step for your audience. Don't try to list everything, as this becomes tedious. It's important that viewers don't need to decide what way to reach you - this can become a burden as you make your audience do more decision making. For instance, you can reach Angela Wolf Video on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, email, directly through our website, and by phone. Notice, however, that we don't list all those methods in our videos. For us, we like to direct all traffic to our website (which boosts SEOs) and for inquiries to be made via our web form (as it's linked to our CRM for easy management). Because of this, in our videos, we only list our website in the call to action. Of course, we will talk to people any way that they want to reach us, but we only list the BEST way for them to do so. This rounds out your corporate video with something clear, concise, and inviting.
