Instagram is a great way to share more about your brand. Posting fun videos is key to connecting with your audience. By having the right Instagram settings for your posts, you can drive engagement. Here are our three tips for the best video settings for Instagram posts.
1) Aspect ratio should be 4:5 with with a max resolution of 864x1080

This is designed to fit the width of your phone, while leaving space for a post description below. The 864x1080 resolution refers to how many pixels are in the frame. Instagram suggests a maximum resolution of 864x1080. While filming, be mindful that your width will be cropped. Keep your subject in the middle of the frame.
2) Video codec should be H.264 to give you a .mp4 file
47% of users visit Instagram on their phones, and 53% use it on their tablets. This means Instagram tries to keep their data sizes to a minimum. Instagram suggests that your video codec be H.264, giving you a .mp4 file. H.264 is more advanced compression methods, which allows the video file to stay small while still retaining high quality.
3) Video must be between 3 to 60 sec and file size smaller than 15mb
Your Instagram videos should be between 3 to 60 seconds. This keeps your post short and concise, yet exciting. You should aim for your final video to be around 8mpbs, but Instagram will allow uploads up to 15mbps. Keep in mind, these settings are specifically for an Instagram post.
