How to do Marketing with Social Media

Social media is the perfect place to build brand awareness. Having a small, daily dose of your brand in your audience’s feed means they keep you top of mind and even start to feel like they know you personally. This is one of the most accessible marketing strategies today, and any small business owner can do it. Keep reading for our top three tips on how to create brand awareness with social media.

Creating Brand Awareness with Social Media

1) Post Your Personality

Social media is THE place to showcase your personality, so don't be afraid to be yourself! In fact, brand accounts that are purely professional and utilitarian feel very cold and out of place on social media. Users will be much more drawn to your posts, account, and brand if you give your personality opportunities to shine through. Here, you can highlight the things that allow you to stand out as an individual and foster personal connections, like sense of humor, attitude, and pop culture references. When people feel connected to you on a personal level, they're more likely to stay up-to-date with your brand and regularly support and patronize your business!

2) Collaborate with Other Brands

Brand collabs are one of our all-time favorite ways to promote brand awareness on social media. Cross-marketing helps both brands by creating a combined audience to increase reach. The key is to collaborate with another brand that is similar (but not a competitor!) to yours. Maybe you offer complimentary items or services. Maybe you both support the same causes or are popular in similar circles. Regardless of what connects you, the collab will help you both! Instagram makes this super easy (though it's great to do on any platform): When you post a reel or grid post, you can select "Add a Collaborator," which will both tag the other account and post it to their feed. We love collaborating with the brands we do photos and videos for. We share the product photos we take for our clients and they tag us in their posts. It’s a win win!

3) Utilize Trends and Hashtags

Content creators and users alike are always trying to crack the code of the social media algorithm. Because it's constantly changing, getting in the algorithm's good graces (having users funneled to your posts and account by the social media site itself) is a gargantuan task, even for businesses with entire social media teams. While it's absolutely crucial to stay authentic, you also need to present yourself in such a way that the right audience will find you. Do this by using relevant hashtags (we know it's so tempting to get lazy on this one, but effective search terms are a huge part of branding) or participating in appropriate trends that work with your brand image. Remember above all else never to sacrifice authenticity for what you think will feed the algorithm. It can be very tricky, but you can achieve a happy balance of staying true to yourself and your brand while leaving a footprint on social media.
