The winter holidays are upon us, and we can't wait to have our annual cozy movie marathon during the break. What's more festive than curling up and watching feel-good movies all day? Keep reading for our top 3 cozy holiday movies to stream while you're off from work.

3 Cozy Holiday Movies to Stream While You’re off from Work

1) Klaus (2019)

This award-winning Netflix original is just the thing to get you into the cozy holiday spirit. Klaus takes us to a fictional 19th-century Norway and reimagines the origin story of Santa Claus. A post-master's son on a mission to deliver as much mail as possible stumbles upon Klaus, a reclusive toymaker. Despite Klaus's initial reluctance, the post-master's son (Jesper) begins delivering his toys to children at night. When word spreads, children begin mailing letters to Klaus in exchange for gifts, and Jesper meets his postage goal. Klaus is not only sweet and clever, it's also beautifully-animated. Creators used a unique volumetric lighting technique, incorporating geometric shapes and layering to create a look that stands out from standard animation (and really establishes that cozy feel).

2) Tokyo Godfathers (2003)

This movie is a little less fantastical (and a little darker) than the others on this list, but it's still ultimately a heartwarming holiday favorite. Tokyo Godfathers is one of only four movies by director Satoshi Kon. It's his most down-to-earth, revolving around the themes of coincidence, family, and (re)connection. The story begins On Christmas Eve, as three people are rifling through a dumpster. While looking for scraps, they find a baby with a note and bag of clues from their parents. The three set out to find them, and, needless to say, encounter an odyssey of twists and turns along the way. While the story is a little complicated and has a few darker elements, the animation is very cozy, and the ending is well-worth the 92-minute watch--boasting an impressive 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. Stream it on Apple TV and Tubi.

3) The Muppets Christmas Carol (1992)

Yes, we've included this movie in past lists, but it's truly one of our all-time favorites. Beyond a nostalgia pick, this rendition of A Christmas Carol is genuinely a cut above the rest. For one, Michael Caine's performance is reason alone to love this film. When director Brian Henson approached Caine for the role, the actor declared that he would play the part as if he were "working with the Royal Shakespeare Company," with no Muppets in sight. Another thing that makes this A Christmas Carol adaptation stand out is how true-to-novel the script is. The movie includes fourth-wall breaks and narration by Charles Dickens himself (played by Gonzo). This way, the writers were able to incorporate the novel's exact verbiage without being clunky or heavy-handed. To top it off, The Muppets Christmas Carol is full of fun and fantastical musical numbers, heartwarming charm, and classic Muppets wit. This is truly the perfect cozy holiday movie to stream while you're on break (find it on Disney+) .
